School Resource Officer

Lieutenant Brad Justice is our School Resource Officer (SRO). He is a law enforcement officer placed at MES, serving multiple roles: a law enforcer, counselor (mentoring students), educator (teaching crime prevention), and a visible security presence to deter threats and maintain campus safety.  The SRO often is focusing on community policing principles to build positive relationships and prevent issues before they escalate. SROs handle everything from traffic control and investigating crimes to crisis response, collaborating with school staff to create a secure and positive learning environment

Lt. Justice also teaches C.H.A.M.P.S. to all the 5th grade students at each of the elementary schools in Pierce County. C.H.A.M.P.S. is Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods of Promoting Safety and was founded in the Georgia Sheriff’s Association to address urgent challenges. C.H.A.M.P.S. teaches 5th graders about internet Safety, Social Media, Alcohol, ATV Safety, Bullying, Choices and Consequences, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Prescription Drug Abuse, Stress, Tobacco, Gangs, Understanding and Avoiding Violence, and Water Safety. The program has an average of 250 students each year. C.H.A.M.P.S. ends the school year with a “graduation” party which includes certificates and a t-shirt to each student.
